Must-know Valentino Facts

All applicants ought to know these basics about Valentino before applying or interviewing for any role.

Founded in Rome in 1960 by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti, Valentino combines Roman couture heritage with a global ready-to-wear and accessories business.
The house’s couture ateliers are based at Rome’s Palazzo Mignanelli, placing specialist craftsmanship at the heart of its identity.
“Valentino red” has been a house signature since Garavani’s very first collection, which featured a red tulle dress called Fiesta.
Introduced in 2010, Valentino’s pyramid-shaped Rockstud embellishments became a defining code across shoes and handbags, making accessories an important category for candidates to understand.
In 2023, Kering acquired a 30% stake in Valentino from Mayhoola, connecting the house to the group behind Yves Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta.
Alessandro Michele, formerly creative director of Gucci, became Valentino’s creative director in April 2024, opening a new chapter in the interpretation of the house’s archives.
